One of the biggest mistakes most people make while using traffic exchanges is that they send the traffic directly to their website or to a landing page that is nothing more than a sales page that does nothing more than promote their product or service. This is very non-productive.
The link that you display on a Traffic Exchange should direct searchers and internet Homeowner loan to a page that has a "Reach Out and Catch You" headline, a few Bullet Points highlighting the benefits of submitting a person's name and primary email address, and an Autoresponder service in place to capture those names and email addresses and respond to them. That's All. No electrifying graphics. No spacey site design. Remember to maintain a simple design that is direct.
Probably the most popular method generating free traffic is to use what is often referred to as a Traffic Exchange. Let's take note as to what exactly a Traffic Exchange is...
Traffic Exchanges are what the term describes. They are websites created with the intention of allowing a "member" of the exchange to display their site to other members of the exchange in exchange for viewing theirs.
Most exchange networks will run on a timer of somewhere in the range of 20-30 seconds. This has been done by some of the better exchanges to prevent fraud or automated clicks to build up exchange credits. This means you have, at most, 30 seconds to clutch the attention of your viewer and make them want to initiate some kind of action on your page.
Some exchanges redirect automatically and move the viewer on to the next hunk page when the timer expires. Others (generally the better ones) require you to click on a link or a button in order to view the next page.
Now the best exchanges out their will have some type of text verification within random ads. Such as "Do not click this ad" placed within the text body or headline and you are penalized if you do click it. This is done to keep "bot's" and special scripting software from running effectively from within these sites. Which will prevent or at least substantially limit false traffic showing up on their network.
