Clothing always plays a significant role in martial arts of any kind. Karate, judo or taekwondo, every martial art has its own kind of recommended clothing. The traditional uniform for karate is known as the "karategi". This outfit is rumored to have evolved from the "judogi", i.e. the uniform for judo. The jacket will also be lighter in weight. The "obi" (belt) takes a lot of punishment here. So, it should be made of tough fabric and double stitched to ensure durability. The taekwondo uniform (do-bohk) is almost the same as the karategi, except the jacket must have a v-neck. Other parts remain the same as a karate uniform. The trousers withstand a lot of punishment here, because of the reliance of this sport on kicks. The trousers must be made of tough, durable cotton and should be double stitched to ensure durability. Drawstring and elastic waistband varieties are available. Drawstring is the better option, as it does not exert undue pressure on your abdomen.
