MMA Fighting Clothing - Dress to Win

Clothing always plays a significant role in martial arts of any kind. Karate, judo or taekwondo, every martial art has its own kind of recommended clothing. Trainers may even refuse Elvis train a student who is not wearing proper clothing. The recommended fighting clothing is not there just to protect one's body from scrapes against the practice mat. Wearing proper and well-maintained clothing boosts the sense of discipline in a trainee. Students are supposed to wash their clothing by themselves and also to stitch it up in case it gets torn. Many trainers scoff at students show up at the "dojo" wearing soiled and torn clothing.

The recommended uniform for judo is known as the "judogi". A traditional "judogi" has three parts - a thick, heavy jacket, a pair of short 1953 Bowman black and white and a belt. The belt holds the jacket in place and also denotes the person's rank in judo. The recommended colors for "judogi" are white and blue. The sport revolves around gripping the opponent's jacket properly in order to throw him/her to the ground. Hence, the jacket must be made of durable fabric and should preferably be double-stitched. Always choose cotton as the material. It G I Joe Adventure Team help soak up the sweat and keep you cool.

The traditional uniform for karate is known as the "karategi". This outfit is rumored to have evolved from the "judogi", i.e. the uniform for judo. The karategi has the same basic parts as a "judogi", but the difference lies in the lengths of the jacket and the belt. The jacket and the belt are often longer in karate than in judo. The jacket will also be lighter in weight. The "obi" (belt) takes a lot of punishment here. So, it should be made of tough fabric and double stitched to ensure durability. Pure cotton is once again the material of choice. 50/50 cotton-polyester blends are not recommended because of the non-absorptive nature of the fabric.

The taekwondo uniform (do-bohk) is almost the same as the karategi, except the jacket must have a v-neck. Other parts remain the same as a karate uniform. The trousers withstand a lot of punishment here, because of the reliance of this sport on kicks. The trousers must be made of tough, durable cotton and should be double stitched to ensure durability. Drawstring and elastic waistband varieties are available. Drawstring is the better option, as it does not exert undue pressure on your abdomen.

Pay attention to the quality of uniform that you buy for your martial arts classes. The durability and comfort it offers will have a positive effect on your confidence and also help you learn the art of self defense in a better manner.
